Hi, this is by far the best theme for customization i’ve found! I’m really picky and I can change everything with this theme. I do have 2 issues though. The first is with the date and rss. I tried just moving the line under date to get rid of it but the whole style goes crazy when I do that and rss turns into a text link. The 2nd thing is that I installed a plug-in to redirect a page to an external site but it keeps putting ‘my site’/'the link i entered’ instead of it just having the link I entered..Any help would be greatly appreciated…thanks again for sharing your theme

Hi, this is just an update. Instead of getting rid of the date, i decided to just move the code for the rss, date and dater into the footer which pretty much solved my initial issue.The plug-in thing isn’t related to just this theme because it happened on another theme as well. thanks again for a great theme

Excellent Theme Marcelo!
I’m having trouble changing the backround image. I
accessed the css/style.css file and changed the html code for a new backround image on Dreamweaver. However, when I go and drag and drop the file back to the server the original file appears. Has anyone ever experienced this. I would appreciate the help.

Great theme, but there is a problem: with IE the body area displays below the bottom of the sidebar. This means that there is a huge empty space on the left column before you get down to the blog posts.Is there any solution or fix? Unfortunately no answer in the Wordpress forum …

Estou usando o painter. Criei algumas categorias com textos longos. Gostaria de saber como faço para que o nome seja exibido inteiro pois está cortando.

Wanderson,
você tem que alterar o HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT em inc/custom-header.php. Alguns trechos do css desse tema são definidos dinâmicamente, por isso não deve estar adiantando alterar o css/style.css, ok.

Olá François,
o link para download leva para outra página que contém o link do arquivo (faço isso apenas para fins de estatística). Eu acabei de testar, e ambos funcionaram. Se o problema persistir, me avise que te mando o tema por e-mail, ok.

Em breve o tema estará disponível também no diretório de temas do WordPress, assim que for publicado eu altero o link do post.

Hi Tony, the function ‘get_avatar’ is avaliable only for versions up 2.5 of WordPress. The next update of this theme will have a compatible function for WordPress 2.3, ok.

Hi Kristee, to disable the submenus, open ‘header.php’ and change line 64 ‘wp_list_pages(‘title_li=’);’ to ‘wp_list_pages(‘depth=1&title_li=’);’.

Hi Elsa, is just that, probably is cache. If the problem persists, try to rename the icon and change the meta value for it on the header.php, ok.

the problem should be this configuration. I suggest you let the blog address without the index.php and create a index.html (your server recognize index.html?) redirecting to the index.php.

Don’t forget to make a backup of your database before the changes.

Hi Lotten,
to remove the infos at the bottom of the posts, go to ‘Design > Custom theme’ and check only what you want to be visible. Now, to remove the date at the top of the site you have to open the header.php and remove the line 51 right bellow the <!– Date –>.

This tips are related to the 1.0 version of the Painter theme, ok.

You right Lotten, I forgot to apply the functions to the post template. The next version this error will be fixed, but if you don’t wanna to wait, just copy the lines 80 to 84 from index.php and paste it over the lines 23 to 26 from the single.php, ok.

in Firefox and IE 6 and 7 the submenus is working, but a friend already warned me about Opera errors that I’m still trying to fix, but the bug you just say is new to me.

Can you tell me wich browser are you using so I can search a solution to it.

Hi Kaj,
First of all I really appreciate your critics and almost all your suggestions are included on my TODO list for this theme, but will take a while until implement all this..

Now, some things cannot be change, like the huge colors list. That color definitions was made with a WebDesigner help, the first version of the Painter had only four colors then move to sixteen and keep increasing until satisfy all possibilities. I understand that are too many, but as you say “others may want to influence things in more detail”.

I am sorry for the hard coded english and I like the idea of customize the header text, maybe even let the user define if they gonna appear or not.

The date languages are based on .po file, but can be better give this control to users too.

I don’t understood when you said “I’d like to determine the order of the areas in the sidebar”, if you talking about the widgets, they are draggable at the backend.

to define the size of the gravatars open inc/enhanced-comments.php file and edit line 16 from "get_avatar($comment)" to "get_avatar($comment, ‘xx’)" where ‘xx’ is the size of the gravatar image (the default is 96).

Hi Nikki,
IE6 is a big problem for all the developers, that bug you report it’s a example of how unpredictable this browser can be.

I already face that problem before, but there’s no specific solutions. Try to remove all html comments () from the theme, you can test disable some javascript functions too.

Anyway, consider to install other browsers on those schools. There’s a lot of free options avaliable out there, IE (special older than 7) is insecure and screw discontinued.

I’m gonna make some tests here too and I post if discover something.

I’m sorry, was my mistake. Should appear a checkbox to select if this link will be show or not. I’m gonna fix this in next version, for now you can edit head.php and insert the link manually.

sorry for the absence on forum. This is probably a widget larger then sidebar, try to test the widgets one by one. You can contour this problem editing the css and set “overflow: hidden;” on #sidebar.

Yes… try to change the ‘p’ tag on line 77 to 81 of ‘index.php’ for ’span’. Don’t forget to change the open and close tags.
